All about the MyDawa app that allows you to order for medicine online

Online shopping is growing by huge strides in Kenya as more and more convenience applications emerge. Kenyans can now order medicine online in what the creators of MYDAWA app say will help ensure customers do not waste time looking for particular medicine from chemist to chemist.

How it works

Just like other online shopping platforms, MYDAWA requires you to create an account and fill the following personal information in the customer information form:

  • Your name
  • Gender
  • Email address
  • Account password
  • Mobile phone number
  • Date of birth

A one-time password or code is sent to your mobile number. You will have to enter the code sent for you to complete your registration.

Once one has registered an account, you can now order any product from the MYDAWA app which is downloadable from Google Play Store, or from the website.

Ordering products

The MYDAWA online shop offers prescription medicine as well as other health, beauty and wellness products. When logged in from your account, you can order any of the products. If it is prescription medicine, you can either search for it directly by typing, attaching a photo, or scanning the prescription packet.

Add all the products you have selected to your cart. Once satisfied, pay via the MPESA Paybill 770700 and check out.

MYDAWA say that they deliver at any point of your convenience within 4 hours. You are the one who selects delivery point as they can deliver anywhere and at any time according to information on their website. 4 hours might seem a long time though if your medicine is for an emergency.

MYDAWA also claims to do free delivery without any hidden charges or transactional fees. However, it is common knowledge that Paybill transactions attract charges, therefore your mobile money account will definitely be charged for the transaction when you are using MPESA.

You can also pay for your product via a credit or debit card. In case there are any errors to do with pricing, MYDAWA reserves the right to update the information without giving you prior notice, and may also cancel your transaction if they deem it necessary to do so.

The online platform also offers customers authentication services where one can enter the unique code of a product and send it to 70077 to verify whether it is a genuine product.

Limitations of purchase

MYDAWA only allows purchases for the use of the customer and not for resale.
