Moshek Africa is a fast-growing digital media research and development web service based in Kenya. The website mainly covers Kenya and East African region tech, business, travel spaces, and Africa at large. It also covers content of interest to West, and South Africa, with a vision to becoming the largest content provider platform in Africa. We also have a growing readership in the USA and Europe.

About the internship

We have been collaborating in content creation and exchange with various providers across the world. As per our vision, we would like to extend this opportunity to journalism students across Africa. There are limited opportunities for the following countries: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.

The position is meant to offer a publishing platform for successful candidates, training in news media and research content writing. We hope the experience gained will enable the interns to further their journalism career pursuits.

Requirements

Be a continuing student at a university or college pursuing either a diploma, undergraduate or master degree in any field.

Able to work remotely from their country of residence (should possess their own computer and internet facility).

Be able to write/rewrite news or journalistic research articles in fluent readable English.

Be an active user of social media platforms such as Twitter and/or Facebook.

Show motivation and interest in pursuing journalism as a main or side career.

Above all, we are looking for storytellers. Not the usual man-hit-car reports but how it happened and why it is important.

Role description

Your main role would be to source, write or rewrite news and research articles in the assigned area.

You will also be required to research and write worthwhile how-to guides in the tech and business fields.

Share your articles on your social media platforms and analyse feedback if any.

How to apply

Apply by sending a sample 350 – 500 word current news article. The article should either be original or rewritten, and should be about technology, business, lifestyle or travel.

Send your application in the email body and NOT as an attachment.

At the end of your article, have your name and college/university of study.
